OpenFOAM® on HHLR 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 1
Hi all,

I would like to know if some of you might be interested in using OpenFOAM® on the HHLR (Hessischer Hochleistungsrechner).

I have already got a running version of OpenFOAM®-1.5 but now I want to change to version 1.7.1 or 2.0.0. But compiling is not trivial at all.

We have also the opportunity to ask the system admistrators of HHLR to install OpenFOAM® and to make it available to all users. But then of course it would be better if we were as many users as possible and we would have to choose a version which is useful for most of us.

So if you're interested, too, just reply and tell which version you would like to use (eg. 1.7.1, 1.6-ext, 2.0.0 ...)

Greetings,
Stefan

Hi!

sounds interesting! In general I would be also interested in OF on the HHLR. As a preferred OF version I would say 1.6-ext or 2.0.0.

There is also a HHLR Mailing-List (lists.tu-darmstadt.de/mailman/listinfo/hhlr-openfoam), maybe we could ask there too.

Greetings

Hi Stefan,

yup, great! We would definitely vote for OpenFOAM® 1.6-ext, since we use its capabilities to quite some extent.

It would be interesting to hear if somebody is already using OF-2.0 and has to rely on exclusive functionality of this release.

best regards,

Hello,

there are some changes in the syntax of modelling between OF 1.7 and OF 2.0.

I Think that's the main difference that might cause difficulties.

Hi!

this sounds very interesting!

I would also through my hand in for the 1.6-ext version, since I'm strongly relying on some of the functionalities there.
I think here the strongest issue will lie in the compilation of the Third Party packages. Does anybody know what architecture is there?

Best
