Hi Maria, and thanks for your reply.
Actually I was able to solve the problem in a slightly different way, i. e. by modifying the Allmake.stage4 file in order to compile Paraview 3.8.1 instead of 3.10.1. The compilation of the 3.8.1 version came to a successful end and now I have OF-1.6-ext+Paraview-3.8.1 working properly together!

Best

Hi Maria

Thanks for that input. I was having problem with getting 3.10.1 to work with 1.6-ext as that was not the default. The best way to do this is also would be to get the official pre-built compilation of whichever version of paraview you want and then follow the instructions given in the link...
www.cfd-online.com/Forums/blogs/wyldckat...fixes-solutions.html
There is a link for how to use either the 3.8 or 3.10 version depending on user preference.

Some additional tips i found while installing were...
at the end if you do a foamInstallationTest and it gives 1 critical error for the gcc version and path, you can fix that by doing
export WM_64=on
before you source the openfoam bashrc. do this by opening a new terminal and then trying it.

Hi,

can the same procedure work on Ubuntu 11.10? Did you try it already?

Thank you,

Hi Kiyo,

I tried to install OpenFOAM®® on ubuntu 12.04 LTS several times using the procedure described by Nebojsa Gavrilov, but always there is a critical problem. Please, can you post your modified method to install OpenFOAM®® on ubuntu 12.04 LTS?

Thank you so much,

Hello Felipe

for some reason it seems my account dissapeared and it did not let me post, anyway i created a new one, I didn;t want to post it because its a mess, but I have recently successfully installed it from the tutorials in the files themselves.

I think this should be known by all newcomers, so if there is a way to bump this post please do ^^.

so as long as you can get the files from the git repository (i.e. git clone git://openfoam-extend.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/openfoam-extend/openfoam-extend OpenFOAM®-1.6-ext)

you are fine, then open the folder go to:

/doc/buildinstructions

then pick your OS (ubuntu for us, there is also centos and openSUSE, and follow the file for your installation, and your done! ( I have 64 bit laptop so i guessed that you may need an installation for a 32 bit one).

hope it helps
