Dear all,

I have a urgent need of packaging OpenFOAM®-1.6-ext (with some modifications). I am working on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS therefore I would like to build packages for this platform ONLY.

I have seen that there is the openfoam-ubuntu/ project on google code but it is addressing only the compilation. This is already a good starting point especially if it does not recompile third party tools. With that respect, I do find the installation procedure of OpenFOAM® to be very primitive.

Then my second requirement is to be able to build Ubuntu packages - a good starting point would be to start from the existing packaging. Can anyone point me to some information related to OpenFOAM® ubuntu packaging ?

Thanks

Guillaume

Hello Guillaume,

I think Ubuntu 10.04 already have the OF-1.6-ext on your official repository. Another thing can help you is the shell script foamPackGeneral from the OF binaries. But if you really want build the .deb package using your compiled OF then you can use the dpkg program to do it. You will find easily on Internet about how to use dpkg to create a .deb file. The only thing can take a bit of time is to solve for all dependencies. Maybe OF-1.6-ext on the repository can help you to fix the dependencies (are the same).

Regards,
Jovani

PS: OF installation is "click like" now comparing to 2-3 years ago
